Bespoke manufacture rather than standard lengths: our handrails and curved components are not priced like mass-produced DIY-store products. Each project is quoted individually according to length, curved components, wood species, profile and finish.

Upgrading existing railings

A new character.
A wooden handrail can substantially enhance a decades-old railing, including traditional wrought iron. Retaining the existing structure is often an economical alternative to replacing the entire railing.
We can work from your own digital survey as the basis for design and manufacturing. Suitable digital survey data supplied by you saves the cost of a separate on-site survey. Alternatively, our service partner can carry out the on-site survey. We then design and manufacture a wooden handrail to suit. Where required, the design can smooth out an uneven sweep to create a more harmonious line.
For joiners and installation contractors
As the contractor carrying out the project, you can also manufacture the straight lengths yourself. We supply the required bends, transitions and shaped components, with profiles and connection dimensions agreed together in advance.
Manual finishing
Digitally machined.
Finished by hand.
A retaining bridge secures the workpiece during CNC machining. After milling, it is sanded away by hand. This manual finishing continues the handrail contour cleanly, bringing precision machining and craftsmanship together.
Route & profile
Stair geometry, rise, radii and grip profile are considered together. Your drawings or CAD data form the basis of the manufacturing geometry. Contour milling gives us freedom in the design of profiles and cross-sections, without being tied to standard profiles. Features such as LED grooves can also be integrated to your requirements. Different cross-sections can transition smoothly along a handrail segment, including deliberately different profiles at its two ends. On request, we also machine profiles directly into the end faces of the handrail.
Transitions & connections
Connections, segmentation and transitions are coordinated with the route and planned installation. We plan, incorporate and pre-assemble the matching connectors.
Wood & processing
Wood species, stock, finish and scope of machining are agreed together, so the supplied parts fit your subsequent workflow. You may also prepare and supply the material yourself. We agree stock dimensions and preparation in advance.
