Cutting
Lettering, logos, ornaments and cut-out shapes. Contours, material thickness and processing are matched to the design.

Innovative design — achievable and affordable
Our own machine programming gives us the flexibility to respond to specific requests. Technology and traditional craftsmanship work together, for unique pieces as well as repeating forms.

Ornaments are decorative, often repeating forms. Scrollwork uses plant-like motifs. Alongside appearance, machining must account for narrow webs, grain direction and the strength of delicate areas.

A motif projects from its background. Depth, smallest details and material determine the amount of machining and hand finishing required.

Digital elevation data becomes a physical model. Scale, vertical exaggeration, data resolution and material determine which landscape details can be shown.

Single-line lettering, V-carving and cut-out letters create different effects. Backlit lettering needs support for enclosed centres such as those in A, B or O. Drilling templates help position individual letters.

Scrollwork draws on plant forms and has appeared in architecture and craft for centuries, from volutes and palmettes to baroque rocailles and flowing Art Nouveau lines. Ornaments are repeating, often abstract patterns. Rhythm, depth and proportion shape their appearance; web thickness and grain direction also determine how they can be made.
Examples range from a tree-shaped coat rack with flattened ends to scrollwork with convex and concave curvature. Convex curves outwards; concave curves inwards. Overall and detail views show contours, cut-outs and sculpted profiles.

Terrain models can make landscapes, town planning or flood scenarios easier to understand. Suitable digital elevation data, for example from survey authorities, forms the basis. Resolution and scale determine which details can usefully appear in the finished model.

Single-line lettering has a defined tool width and rounded line ends. With V-carving, cutting depth determines stroke width, allowing finer transitions and pointed details. Individual letters can have mounting holes on the back and a matching drilling template. Backlit cut-outs need tabs or a suitable backing to retain enclosed areas in letters such as A, B and O.

Shaped inserts fit into a matching recess. Different wood species, colours and grain directions form the motif. Fit and the natural movement of the wood need to be considered together.

Thread milling
Milled wooden threads combine structure and design: as metal-free furniture joints, for example in a Swiss stone pine bed, or as a deliberately visible detail. Dimensions, fit and loading are tailored to your object.

Selected project
A 70-year-old original. Recreated in oak.

From a 3D scan to a life-size figure of Christ: we digitally captured the historic original and recreated it in oak.
The digital twin is retained as the basis for making the figure again, even decades from now.
